The Holy Shit What the Fuck Mismanagement Code of Conduct & Ethics
(mmm COC & Ethics)
The HSWTFH3 Mismanagement code of conduct and ethics exists to help provide all Holy Shitters guidance when volunteering to help keep the kennel r*nning. This document should be provided to any kennel member seeking to run for a position.
Hashing is designed to promote community and encourage future hashing. The chief function of mismanagement is to serve the best interests of the kennel. Members of mismanagement must seek to treat all members of the kennel with respect, courtesy, and dignity.
Mismanagement positions and official duties:
GM (Grand Master/Mistress): Responsible for scheduling and running MM meetings. Assists in all positions as needed. The GM has the final say in most, if not all, things and is accountable for making sure mismanagement adequately has their sh*t together.
RA (Religious Advisor): This role includes running the circle before and after trail, in addition to keeping the pack informed of traditions and the history of the hash.
Hareraiser: Ensures we have hares lined up for trail. Responsible for keeping track of NFN’s and persuading them to sign up to hare a trail and assigning them an experienced partner. Also responsible for educating the pack on proper trail markings, sharing trail information with the RA and setting trails as needed if they are unable to fill a slot in the hareline.
Haberdasher: responsible for procuring, promoting, and selling hash gear. Keep the pack supplied with hash cards to share with prospective hashers and will come up with brilliant ideas for customized hab for special events like campouts and analversary trails.
Hash Cash: Collects hash cash and maintains the books. Responsible for sign-ins at trails and checking everyone back in at the end of trail.
Beermeister: Ensures that we have cold beer at trail and coordinates cheap beer for trails as needed.
Shenaniganator: Organizes shenanigans outside of our normally scheduled runs. Must help plan special hashenings such as Hashmas, Wreck Your Dress and the Annual Campout.
WebMeister: Responsible for creating FB events, updating HSWTFH3’s website, keeping the hare spreadsheet, and taking notes at mismanagement meetings.
For those serving on mismanagement::
Volunteers for mismanagement understand they will be held to a higher standard during their year of service to the kennel. Serving as a member of HSWTF mismanagement requires good judgement and accountability for one’s own actions.
All members of mismanagement are expected to be familiar with the general code of conduct and willing to be accountable for adherence to the COC.
No member of mismanagement shall derive any personal profit or gain, directly or indirectly during their term. The best interest of the kennel should supersede any personal interests.
Members of mismanagement should always be aware of power dynamics (e.g. named hasher/NFN; established/newer in the Hash; member of Mismanagement/kennel member, etc.). When interacting across a power dynamic, be more purposeful about consent and aware of factors that may affect consent.
Members of mismanagement are required to pay hash cash for all trails with limited exceptions - primarily for those members showing up to opening/closing circle only in support of their role so long as they are not drinking hash provided beverages.
Investigations and complaints:
Members of mismanagement have a responsibility to report all concerns and complaints to the whole of mismanagement within 7 days of hearing a report from any hasher.
Members of mismanagement should report any problematic or concerning behaviors they witness during official hash events and/or trails to the whole of mismanagement in a timely manner.
If a complaint is lodged against a member of mismanagement, that person will be subject to the same guidelines as anyone else AND that person will be excluded from mismanagement discussions regarding the complaint. If complaints are substantiated, that member of mismanagement may be removed from their position.
Confidentiality is important in order to respect members of our kennel, especially during open investigations. Mismanagement members should seek to respect fellow hashers personal details and keep investigation details limited to other members of mismanagement. Anyone found to be sharing details or screenshots may be asked to leave mismanagement.
The GM will appoint at least two current members of mismanagement to investigate any accusation. Members may volunteer themselves but should respect the GM’s decision and should not conduct any interviews or questioning unless they have been selected to do so.
It is the duty of GM to share any necessary details of an investigation with the kennel and with other kennels of the greater PNW. No other member of mismanagement should take this responsibility upon themselves unless it has been agreed upon by the majority of mismanagement.
Each position is allowed one vote in any situation requiring a majority vote - unless otherwise agreed upon. Shared positions may decide how to cast their vote however they chose (one designated voter, one hasher abstains or any other agreed upon method).
Any member of mismanagement can abstain from a vote - or be asked to abstain from a vote - if they feel like they cannot be impartial or if there is an obvious conflict of interest.
For those seeking a mismanagement position:
Mismanagement terms are served starting immediately after the Holy Shit Campout until campout of the following year. These terms are referred to as a mismanagement session. Good candidates have high engagement and can follow through on their positions for one year.
Anyone running for a position in mismanagement is required to be familiar with the current COC and reporting procedures.
Mismanagement candidates should be named hashers, in current good standing with HSWTFH3 who have have r*n or been present for regular trails with Holy Shit in the past year. These terms can be waived for long-standing members of Holy Shit or candidates who are involved to a level where current mismanagement waives these requirements.
Mismanagement participants should plan to be active members of the kennel during their volunteer time. This includes showing up to trails, hash sponsored events and monthly meetings when possible.
Candidates can run for any position of mismanagement solo or as a member of a team. These positions can be currently occupied or positions not currently existing in our kennel.
Hashers may be asked not to run for a future mismanagement position if the majority of the current mismanagement team agrees that it’s in the best interest of the kennel. This could be for reasons outside of the hash or strikes/prior complaints against this hasher. Examples could include: criminal activity related to money should preclude you from a position of Hash Cash, inability to show up for regularly scheduled trails, or an inability to perform the role you volunteered for.
Holy Shit is managed by volunteers and while we may not act or handle a situation the same way you would, we are always thinking about the health and safety of the kennel as a whole. The mismanagement of Holy Shit will work with our hash community to assess and improve this policy on an ongoing basis. We are all here to have fun but not at the expense of anyone’s safety or dignity.
Future changes to this code of conduct require an open Mismanagement meeting.
Open meeting to adopt this code was held on 02/16/2026.
